Anderhalve kilo saffraan uit Bali is gebruikt in deze saison. Door Steve zelf meegenomen en ingevoerd. Bedenk je eens dat Saffraan nu voor 12,50 per 2 gram (!) verkocht wordt in Nederland. De zachte smaak van de saffraan met de kruidige droge toetsen van de saison geven een intense smaakbeleving.

Bottle from Bert’s Bierhuis Biltstraat, batch SN 282 BB 10-02-2017, large sample. Clear amber color, short frothy off-white head. Aroma of toffee, caramel, spicy, slight nutty, bit grassy and earthy hop, strange vegetable like stuff. Soft sweet in taste, medium bitter, dry. Combines some sweet toffee with peppery saison and probably some bitter hoppy stuff, but it comes out quite messy and out of balance. Not a fan of this one.

Bottle @ Van Moll. Slightly hazy amber colour with no head. Smells sweet, malts, barley wine, alcohol. Tastes sweet, malts, barley wine, meh. Medium to full body, soft carbo.

Bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub. Clear light amber color, medium sized white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is lightly malts, lightly floral, some herbs or spices. Taste lightly malts, a hint of cardboard, yoghurt, dusty, some bitter, herbs or spices. Medium body, average carbonation. Not my thing and not really a saison imo.
