Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - dark honey colour. Nice billowing head. Nose - light clove and ginger cake. Taste - more ginger and some of the familiar white pepper. Light cake in the background again. There’s something of a dried peel and spiced Christmas cake going on. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - interesting it’s got the spice at the front rather than at the finish. A slightly off the mainstream saison.

330ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours clear dark gold with a thick white head. Aromas of honey, malt, faint test, brown bread dough. Taste is sweet, more honey but not unpleasant. Cleans up nicely on the finish. Not particularly exciting but decent.

On tap at Haarlem Culinair. Hazy golden orange colour, white head. Aroma of lots of sweet spices, cardamom, gale, coriander seed, peach. Flavour is very sweet and spicy, could be an Indian dessert. Not for me though. Reminded me a lot of the Terra Incognita. Not good.

Das Bier hat eine leicht trübe orangegelbe Farbe und eine mittelgroße leicht beige Schaumkrone. Geruch hefig, Gewürze, hopfig fruchtig. Geschmack dezent bananig, hefig, Gewürze, aromatisch hopfig, gut!

Cloudy medium amber colour, small & thin frothy off-white head, mostly diminishing, light lacing. Sweet malty aroma, caramel, brown sugar, dusty, very earthy, alcohol; medium sweet and bitter taste, grainy, malty. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, aftertaste dry bitter, woody, earthy, spicy notes, alcohol. This ale is not fruity enough for a Saison, more like a kind of Barley Wine, moreover it gives me a feeling of incompleteness and being unbalanced.
