Pitch black with a complex tapestry of dark malts that are rich and laden with mocha, bitter cocoa and oats. The hop aroma is fresh, balanced and spicy and drives a tantalisingly clean finish.

Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Near black. Tobacco, licorice and leather up front. Mid dry with medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Salmiak, coffee and licorice. Long bitter finish. Solid and distinct.

Hand-pulled cask pint about 3 hours before Mat had his in the same pub on 9th Nov 2015 (after I had told him it was on). Poured a solid black with a deep, foaming tan coloured head. Aroma is burnt, yet semi-sweet malts. The taste is over roasted/burnt maltiness again with a mild sweetness which offsets the bitterness nicely. I much prefer Salopian darker beers.

Cask pint @ Montys, Shrewsbury. Pours black with frothy tan head. Aroma is sweet cocoa. Good wholesome full body with a soft roasted bitterness and a teasing treacle and mocha sweetness that gives a great rounded character. Solid.
