Pitch black with a complex tapestry of dark malts that are rich and laden with mocha, bitter cocoa and oats. The hop aroma is fresh, balanced and spicy and drives a tantalisingly clean finish.

Hops: Sorachi, Simcoe

Bottle shared at Jim/John is back tasting. Dark brown almost black with tan head. Chocolate malts, milk chocolate, some mineral, cream. Medium sweet, under medium bitter. Very carbonated, feels like a BIPA more than a stout, pretty nice!

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy tan head. The aroma is big hop bitter, roasty malt, chocolate. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter with a smooth, rich, big roast mat,, smoky, grassy hop bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. More like a black IPA than a stout.

50cl bottle [from Euro Santa 2015] @ home. Opaque pitch black color, huge foamy beige to light brown head that lasts forever. Aroma is malts, lightly iron, light roast, dark malts, cocoa. Taste malts, hops, lightly roasted malts, some cocoa, lightly iron again, moderately -mainly malt- bitter. Medium body and carbonation. Very nice (British style?) stout.

Cask @Black Door. Pours pitch black with a thick espresso head, lasting. Lovely licorice, roasted malty aroma, smooth chocolate. Sweet licorice lingering, ashy notes, roasted malt and dark chocolate in flavor. Awesome.

(Cask at Black Door, 20151218) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized, lightly brown and it lasted long. Aroma had pine, liquorice and burnt malts. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, liquorice, pine, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, burnt and bitter. A pleasant hoppy stout. Finishes a bit too burnt.
