Pitch black with a complex tapestry of dark malts that are rich and laden with mocha, bitter cocoa and oats. The hop aroma is fresh, balanced and spicy and drives a tantalisingly clean finish.

Old rating - A 500ml bottle brought back from Shrewsbury by a friend. Pours a deep dark colour with a brown foamy head. Aromas of malt. Tastes of malt, mocha, oats & cocoa. Highly enjoyable, surprising considering this is not really my favourite style so must be very good. Different bottle of beer in my home No. 1977

Near black with a frothy tan head and soft coffee and chocolate malt on the nose. Medium bodied, smooth, with sweet dark fruit up front, coffee cuts in and it becomes dry and bitter

Keg draught at the Two-Tailed Lion, Leicester. Massive pine aroma, with some chocolate, cola nut, grassy notes. Sweet taste, some blackberry notes with more intense piney hop on the long finish. Light body, medium carbonation. One hell of a hoppy stout. Nailed it.

Cask-conditioned at the Cornubia, Bristol 12 February 2022. Near black in colour, with a frothy, beige, head. Dark chocolate, some coffee beans, oat creaminess, and some leafy hops, leading to a lingering, toasty finish. A very good stout.

Had these on a number of occasions before, but not reviewed it. Anyway, on tap at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours almost black with minimal beige head, but good lacing. Roast malts, chocolate and some caramel in the aroma. A very strong reaction on the taste buds with bitter coffee, dark chocolate and tarry ash. Fairly highly carbonated. Some dark fruits come through later to make the overall taste fairly sweet, and this sweetness dominates the finish. This is excellent !
