Marlene – traditionelle Berliner Weisse mit historischen Hefen. Benannt nach der Ikone Marlene Dietrich. Vergoren mit Brettanomyces-Stämmen aus bis zu 50 Jahre alten Flaschen. Näher am historischen Original ist nicht möglich. Leicht sauer, fruchtig, sprudelig und wild.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a dull, very pale, cloudy, opaque golden with a tiny, lifeless, rough, white head. Nose is dominated by lactic tartness with an edge of Brett. Light body, super dry and massively sour - mouthdryingly sour. Some sour apple notes. It's not poorly made, I'm just not a fan of straight Berliners. 180822

Fat på Brewskival 2022, fre. Disig, lite ljus smutsgul, ingen direkt krona. Funk, lite stalligt, citrus, citron, lätt, lagom syrligt. Gott och törstsläckande.

Bottled 330ml. -at Ambasada Zagreb. 3.5%ABV. Unclear pale golden coloured, medium sized white head, sourish lemony nose. Sourish fruity, lemony, yeasty, notes of brett and sry sourish finish. Refreshing.

Tap at ASF 2022, Reggio Emilia, Italy. Pours rather pale gold, hazy, with fine white foam, very limited. Aroma is lemony, a little yeasty and grapes. Body is average, with marked carbonation. Nice good astringency. Taste is pretty sour, even slightly acetic. Final is average in length, leaving a clean mouth and some cheewiness.

Tap at Prague Beer Fest. Very thin bodied, with high carbonation, low head retention as usual. Quite dry, low sweetness, hops and malt in the background. Med-high sourness, moderately tart too. Very nice complex of lactic and barnyard character. Very easy drinking, quite good.

Disig ljusgul vätska med högt vitt skum. Lätt funkig doft, latrin, syrliga äpplen, citrus, vete, jäst. Mycket karaktär trots att den är så lätt, frisk, lättdrucken och riktigt trevlig. Gott

Classic Berliner. Didn't realize these were traditionally served from bottles but it makes sense, with the bottle conditioning. Named after the brewer's daughter, Marlene is also a student of mine. Beer's better than her 😆
