Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Tom L. Black with a tan head. Great cocoa aroma with chocolate, a bit of fruitiness. Sweetish flavor, roasty, with cocoa, a light sourish hint, a bit of coffee, and a balancing bitterish finish. Medium-bodied. Very good.

Bottle from O’Brien’s, Athlone [100116]
Pitch black, very fizzy pour, settles with a large beige head
Aroma of soft dark sweet chocolate, prominent vanilla
Taste of dark sweet malts, dark chocolate, soft vanilla, very soft roast, some alcohol
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, seems thin for an impy, quite sweet. Finish as main flavour, dark malts, warming alcohol
Overall - Flavours are quite simple, lacks complexity, alcohol a bit noticeable. A bit disappointing.
