Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; pours dark brown with 2 finger beige head, aroma of chocolate malts with a slight hop, tastes like a slightly bitter stout with some sweet chocolate malt background. Enjoyed plan on trying more black IPA’s.

Cask at CP&K. It pours very dark brown, with a thin off-white film. The nose is chocolate, caramel, rich coffee and roasted malt. The taste is dark fruit, caramel, liquorice, roasted malt, charcoal, chocolate, touch of tang, coffee and burnt notes, with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Full flavour and good balance. Solid.

Cask at the PSBH 1st May 2012. Not the best example of a black IPA, cant taste the hops, but more the malt, not a bad beer all the same, nothing exciting which is indicative of the brewery in general i am afraid

On tap @ the Holyrood 9A. Pours opaque black with some head. The nose has pine and flowers. The taste is of pine and grapefruit, then some chocolate and then the zing comes back at the end. The palate is medium throughout with a clean finish. Overall, a good effort.

Cask handpull at Evening Star Brighton. Very dark brown beer with lasting beige head. Touch of diacetyl on aroma until hops take over. Lots of roasty malt in mouth a shed load more hops. Yes a black ipa with good full mouthfeel shane about the butter. Pretty giod though

500 ml shared bottle at local tasting. ABV is 5.6%. Very dark brown to black colour, large and creamy beige head. Very nice vinous aroma, also notes of fruity hops, mild roasty notes. Distinctly hoppy flavour, more piney and resinous than fruity, roasty notes (coffee). Good stuff.
