Bottle. Dark ruby colour, small foamy head. Caramellish fruity/berryish aroma with hints of ginseng (or similar). Flavour wuite the same, fruits, berries, some malts and also a sting of alcohol. Somekind of ginsengic hints also in aftertaste.

(bottle) Cloudy dark brown colour with a small foamy tanned head. Slightly sweet roastmalty aroma with dried fruits, caramel, yeasts and chocolate, very complex. Sweetbitter flavour, medium body, soft mouthfeel. Slight sweet malty start with an upcoming bitterness, caramel/toffee notes, soft sweet but also bitterfruity finish. A complex and moreish brew.

(Bottle 75 cl) Hazy, dark brown beer with an unclean head. This is far from the traditional abbey dubbel as the appearance might indicate. Incredibly fresh and well-scented nose - some perfumy spices. The flavours hint at some initial sweetness which disappears rather fast to be relieved by a pronounced dryness and a wee bit of hops. A very interesting beer. Perhaps a bit too much carbonation. 050599

Draught. Malty aroma, hint of liquorice. Unclear black colour. Nice, sweet liquorice flavour with a hint of yeast, though. But still very nice. Low carbonation.

An unclear brown beer with a light brown head. The aroma is malty with notes of chocolate as well as hints of alcohol. The flavor is much like the aroma except the hints of alcohol are hidden very well.

Dark amber color; big head; over-carbonated. Very nice roasted malt and caramel aroma, with some dark chocolate. The roasted malt (dry) taste and some caramel are very good; maybe missing some more malt. A very good one.

[Sampled item: 3 years old] Colour: dark golden-brown; brownish, thick, irregular head, slowly fading. Nose is sweet, portwine, hops and pinewood hints. A light bitter shock, than a taste of cold sweetened coffee, or "Haagse dropjes", a black, toffee-like sweet from Holland. There is a funny flavour as from mouldy cookies, too. Retronasal a quite bitter, quinine-like taste, paired with parsley. Mouthfeel is quite well-bodied. A slight warming effect. Thge madeirisation of this bottle comes out in the aftertaste, once one gets over the quinine-like retronasal flavour. Nice beer, really.

Bottled. Very dark brown. Estery, perfumy aroma. Sweet coffee nose. Notes of raspberries. Creamy mouthfeel and light bitterness. A really tasty potion reminiscent of kahlua...
