“The Bavarian Purity Law” celebrated its 500th birthday in 2016. The “Herrnbräu Jubiläums-Sud” was first brewed especially for this purpose with a wort content of 12.8% using the classic one-mashing process. All raw materials used come from the region. As a result of an ancient recipe brewed with an extra high proportion of roasted and caramel malt, with the addition of aromatic Hallertau hops and a precisely controlled fermentation with fresh bottom-fermented Herrnbräu yeast, a dark beer with a strong color and a mild, pleasantly sweet and malty-spicy aroma is created.

50cl bottle. Pours clear copper brown colour with a mid-sized most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of reddish dark malt, caramel, nuts. Taste of dark caramelish malt, nuts, spicy hops, light woody finish.

Bottle: Clear, ruby-amber coloured, small - but stable - off-white head; mild to moderate sweetish-caramelly nose with very faint traces of toasted malt, nuts and herbal hops; again - mild to moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; dark-malty and nutty finish with a slight,y increasing bitterness in the aftertaste. Inoffensive, but pretty pleasant...

Pours a brown color. Malty, straw-cereal, molasses aroma. The body was flabby and not crisp, medium weight. Easy to drink, but not entertaining.

Can from an Egerer Advent pack from the Woodland CostCo. Pours dark copper with a bubbly beige head. Aroma of rich slightly roasty, slightly sweet caramel. Near med body. Flavor matches aroma. Not dry, but not overly sweet; mildly bitter, very mildly. It’s a good beer.

(bottle) Hazy, chestnut-brown colour with a beige and mid-sized foamy head. Toast-malty and slightly leafy aroma with notes of caramel, a tinge of nuts and mildly herbal hoppy spice in the background. Mildly sweet and delicately bitter flavour, rather light bodied for its 5.6% abv, soft carbonation. Moderately toasted malt character with notes of caramel, Blockmalz, nutty notes and a delicately herbal hoppy touch; toast-malty, mildly sweet and slightly bitter hoppy finish with caramel and slightly herbal spice in the aftertaste. Likeable. 10.X.16

Süß röstiger, angenehm malziger Antrunk. Schokoladen- und Röstnoten sind dabei harmonisch, geringer Hopfen, frisch. Leicht brotiger Mittelteil, die Süße bleibt passend mild. Langer malziger Nachhall. Gelungen! 10/10/11/11/10/11

*Bottle from Edeka in Porta. Nice brown malty beginning. Fresh, mild, smooth. Hints of nuts, malt, caramel. Round, smooth and sessionable. Great stuff.
