Bottle. Amber with a high, fine head. Malty nose, a bit of hops, sugar, sweet but still somewhat light and crisp with almost enough hop bitterness. A typical spicy and sweet blonde, but decent.

2 bottles for 380 yen from Seiyu. Served in a trappist glass, 5.2% Oddly this is a copper-gold or very light amber color with no head. Another off-style color from Silly, the saison is brown and the amber ale is copper... anyways, the aroma is light grainy malts with biscuit/graham, candy sugar and a mild fruitiness. The taste is candy sugar sweetness, effervescent sharp carbonation, a bit of that belgian sweet funk and a very dry finish. Pretty good but also a weird cross-over of belgian beers like their saison. I think they are of comparable quality(this and the Silly Saison) but I prefer the Super 64 as it is drier and easier to drink while the saison is quite sweet. But hey for that price and this quality no complaints!

250 ml bottle from Seiyu supermarket for 198 yen. Cool that they have some Belgians now. Pours hazy side of orange, small layer of foam. Aroma has malt, biscuit and a bit of candy sugar Taste is quite malty, alcohol bite, yeast and spices. Recognisably Belgian. Aftertaste is bittersweet and a bit messy. Quite OK beer, not great but nicely drinkable.

25cl bottle from Vanuxeem. Put in my trolley by the better half without me realising as an added surprise when we got home. And it’s a surprise on opening too.. sweet malty aroma, with a saisony mouthfeel and rich yeasty flavours. I can see this hasn’t been rated highly by others but, well.. I like it.

Amber colour, low carbonatoin. Unbalanced beer: a bit bitter but too sweet. Aroma of caramel and malt. Watery finish

Dunkelblonde Farbe, leicht herber Antrunk!

5/VI/13 - 25cl bottle from Comptoir des Fagnes (Couvin, BE) @ home - BB: 24/X/13 (2013-534)
Clear pale orange beer, some small frothy irregular fluffy off-white head, little stable, pretty adhesive. Aroma: some citrus, sweet malty touch, bit fruity, sugary. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sweet, ripe fruits, green banana, bitter hops. Aftertaste: fruity, bit sugary, green banana, bit metallic, malty grains, some caramel. Not too bad, decent Belgian brew.

Small brown 250ml bottle, labelled as an ’amber bier’, best before 27 June 2010, drank and reviewed 27 March 2010. Poured into a ’La Chouffe’ stemmed tulip glass. The beer is amber, clear bodied and good looking, a huge white head of bubbles sat on top. Yeast, hops and lightly tosted malts combine to give this beer a fairly sweet, flowery smell. A liitle too sweet in the tastebuds for me, a little too watery as well. This is one of the strangest Belgian beers I’ve had, and a long way from the best.
