This summery barrel aged beer is delicious, refreshing and unique, perfect for warm weather days. With an inviting raspberry and elderflower aroma, there is also depth and warmth from the barrel maturation.
We’ve stayed true to the farmhouse style, brewing the beer with ale and acid malt, then fermenting it was a wild saison yeast. Then we matured the beer in barrels containing heaps of Scottish raspberries.

On tap at Innis & Gunn Edinburgh. Clear gold hint of pink lasting white head. Raspberry aroma some saison yeast aroma. Sweetish. So saison does not get on so well. Good sweet raspberry but not much of a saison. Ok though.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 5/16/2017. Pours slightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lightly tart/tangy raspberries, lemon, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, peppercorn, clove, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and biscuit dough; with light notes of banana, funk, vanilla, toasted oak, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, raspberries, bready malt, and light-moderate oak barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart/tangy raspberries, lemon, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, peppercorn, clove, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and biscuit dough; with light notes of banana, funk, vanilla, toasted oak, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast spiciness, and light fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of lightly tart raspberries, lemon, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, peppercorn, clove, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, vanilla, toasted oak, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, raspberries, bready malt, and light-moderate oak barrel flavors; with a great malt/spiciness and fruit tartness balance, with zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from yeast spiciness and fruit tang. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, fairly sticky/tangy, and lightly acidic balanced mouthful that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is an excellent fruited saison style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, raspberries, bready malt, and light-moderate oak barrel flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the modestly spicy/drying finish. Great classic saison yeast complexity, with balanced raspberries and bready English malts. The barrel isn't really all that big, but definitely noticeable. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

500 ml bottle in cardboard case, as Innis & Gunn Latitude & Longitude Series 001 Raspberry Barrel Aged Saison, at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6%. Clear golden colour, large to moderate white head. High level of carbonation. Nice aroma of spicy saison yeast and raspberries, hints of oak. The flavour is a bit too sweet for my taste, distinct caramel, again with notes of spicy saison yeast, oak and raspberries, herbal bittering hops in the finish.

Sample from bottle. Vsters, Bishop’s Arms. 19.7.2017. Poured pretty much golden in color with a thin, bubbly head. Raspberries, wood and some dark fruits as well as distinct house flavors and aroma. Toffee, vanilla, raspberries and woody notes. Weird stuff, not really like a saison to me.
