In the past, when beer was still being filled into wooden barrels, piching - that is, sealing the barrels with pitch - was one of the brewers apprentice fixed tasks. And after this dangerous and exhausting work, they had really earned a dark beer with a very special taste. Like our Schwarzer Picher, which has a pleasantly mild and velvety taste thanks to its fine, roasted malt flavors.

Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Beer in the glass looks good, dark brown, small head. Fruity-malty aroma. Starts mild malty, light roasty, light chocolate notes. Well balanced finish, maybe a bit metallically. Okay.

Many thanks to Beerhunter111 for sharing! Smooth malty intense beginning. Hints of caramel there, round and smooth with a nice roasty bitterness. Caramel, smooth dry roasty grain, very round and easy to drink. A very nice balanced Schwarzbier. Dry caramel, moderate bitter, round and nice.

50cl bottle courtesy of kevnic2008, many thanks! A clear reddish brown beer with a mid-sized most good lasting beige head. Aroma of mild sweet brown malt, hints of caramel and red fruits. Taste of caramelish dark malt, toffee, some red fruits.

Flasche 0,5l: Kastanienbraun, dunkles Mahagoni, klar, deutlicher feinporiger Schaum; sehr süß + leicht fruchtige Nase, Malzzucker, Karamell, dunkle/eingelegte Früchte, kräftige Röstaromen, leicht rauchig/speckig; frischer + recht würziger Körper, Röstmalz, etwas Karamel, kräftige Röstaromen, cremig, deutliche Kohlensäure, recht trocken, etwas trockene Säure, Kaffee; angenehmer trockener Nachgang mit Röstaromen

Pours a dark brown color, almost black, with an off white head. Aromas of roasted malt, some coffee.
