Imperial Stout

Brewed with an abundance of malts, this stout is smooth as silk, yet complex and rich in body. Best enjoyed at cellar temperature to allow the notes of chocolate, dark fruit and caramel to soar. Put another log on the fire, sit back and enjoy the moment with this full-bodied and utterly delicious cold weather companion.

16.02.2015, 0,35l bottle @ home:
Big brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is mild and roasted, dark malts, roasted grain, caramel, coffee, licorice, grass. Taste is harsh boozy, dark malts, sour coffee, alcohol, harsh hops, minerals, grass, burnt caramel, weeds, ashtray, sour licorice. Medium bitterness, syrupy but harsh mineraly mouthfeel. Nice aroma. Maybe aging it for some time will do...

355 ml bottle, vintage 2015, bb 24/09/16.
Pitch black, oily body, with a medium, stable, dense, creamy, lacing, dark coffee-colored head.
Lovely, dense aroma of melting dark chocolate, soy sauce, nuts, coffee, dark fruits, some vanilla, some liquorice, some tobacco.
Tastes similar, with some more spicy notes like dark bread, some wooden dryness.
Full, creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes roasty, medium bitter, medium dry, moderate sweet, warm, wooden, with bitter chocolate, coffee, liquorice, some soy sauce, subtle hops.

Delicious! Complex and rich, while straight and robust at the same time. Perfectly balanced, with enough dark sweet notes, like a lovely chocolate throughout, for the strong roastiness. Alcohol is greatly hidden. Perfect old-school Imperial Stout, without gimmicks, but with a lot of character.
