Imperial Stout

Brewed with an abundance of malts, this stout is smooth as silk, yet complex and rich in body. Best enjoyed at cellar temperature to allow the notes of chocolate, dark fruit and caramel to soar. Put another log on the fire, sit back and enjoy the moment with this full-bodied and utterly delicious cold weather companion.

Bottle, courtesy of SinH4, many thanks! Pours black with a dark brown and really big head, rarely seen such a color for a foam before! Very stable, too. Aroma is chocolate, dark dried fruit, plum, coffee, some caramel. Body is heavy and sweet, yet not overpowered, and with a punchy bitterness to balance things out. Smooth carbonation and texture, velvety. Also a bit boozy, but it fits. More on the fruit side on tongue and palate. Slightly spicy, has a Winter feel to it. Very good!

Pitch black color. Dark brown head, molasses, dark chocolate, ash, coffee in the nose. Sticky, mouth, super heavy, dark chocolate, dark fruit, ash, molasses and good roasted malt character. Low carbonation. Slightly tart mouth. Roasted malt, dark chocolate finish. Amazing

Aus der Flasche im 2017-08 getrunken. Neben den typischen IS Aromen kommen hier dunkle Beeren und eine leichte Haselnußnote dazu. Lecker!

Wow. Draft pint at Bearfoot Tavern. Black opaque with dark tan head, full bodied creamy. Roasted malt aroma. Taste has espresso licorice and roasted malts, followed by booze finish.

Bottle from Boise Co-op. Silky black pour, minimal head, but skin lasts. Big, full roast grain aroma, coffee, cocoa. Taste adds more of the chocolate, and ramps up the bitterness. Smooth, yet has a nice bite. Velvety texture. Dark and roasty.

Pours black from the bottle and leaves a light brown, creamy head. Lots of sticky lacing. The aroma is fudge, licorice, vanilla, roasted nuts, hints of ink. Taste is rich, sweet, tangy, trending bitter with roasted notes going into the finish. Overall a rich mix of fudge, coffee, plum and berry. Body is heavy with mild carbonation. A very good brew.
