330ml bottle from Fyne Ales Farm Brewery Shop - Jet black body, rich tan foam. Lots of liquorice, coffee and boozy fragrances. Warming taste, forest fruits, chocolate and fruit cake tastes. Good boozy lift off. Stunner.

Smell of whisky, oak, vanilla. Black colour, brown head. Aroma of whisky, oak, roasted malt, vanilla, peat, coffee in finish. Medium sweet, bitter. Lively carbon.

33cl bottle from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours pitch black with fine brown foam. Aroma is of coffee and chocolate. Body is thick and scarcely carbonated. Taste is medium sweet, with some roasty bitterness. Final is fairly long.

330 ml bottle. Pours black with short tannish head. Aromas of roasted malts, vanilla a bit of sweet dark fruit. Flavors of dry black coffee, dark molasses, roasted malts and vanilla. Quite dry. Very nice

Pours black with a quite small (actually ok for the abv) dark yellowish head, that shows good enough retention and lacing. Aroma shows roasted malts and strong coffee notes with a background of chocolate and dark/dried fruits. Quite intense, decently deep and very nicely clean. Taste is medium to high sweet and medium bitter, with a slight sweet edge and a perfectly balanced finish. Strong roasted malts and coffee, dark/dried fruit notes and a fruitcake-like finish. Plus, a nice warming feeling that still hides the abv pretty well. As mentioned for the aroma, maybe not extra deep, but quite intense and definitely very clean. Dense bodied with low to medium carbonation, resulting in a full enough mouthfeel. A very well crafted, highly enjoyable imperial stout.

Bottle. Almost black. Caramel, crea, roast and ash in the aroma. malty sweet flavor. Toffee, roast, ash and licorice. Sticky like a toffee. tasty, but not my taste.

Bbejan2020, I haven't had de molen in forever, this reminds me much of them, roasty coffee galore but not in a nasty way, it's nicely sweet and just a tiny kick in the noggin. I'm awake! Molasses and smokey stuff.

Belle collaboration entre les brasseries Fyne Ales et De Molen sur cet Imperial Stout, même si on ressent très nettement la pâte De Molen avant tout. De Momen a tout de même l’habitude d’utiliser moins de types d’houblons dans leurs Imperial Stout. Etait-il nécessaire d’en intégrer autant ? Pas certain. Compliqué en tout cas de déceler leurs apports spécifiques, les arômes torréfiés étant largement prédominants. La présence en bouche est quoi qu’il en soit très bonne avec des arômes pleins enrobant le palais. Je pense que le Sorachi Ace n’y est pas complètement étranger. Et autant sur des IPA, ce houblon confère des arômes bien spécifique dont je ne suis pour ma part pas friand, autant sur des Imperial IPA, les arômes torréfiés couvrant le reste, il n’en reste plus que cette plénitude aromatique de ce houblon qui le rend très intéressant. En verre, nous sommes sur un noir total avec une très légère mousse. Au nez, c’est le café qui s’impose, avec du caramel et de légères touches épicées et chocolatées. En bouche, c’est franc et intense. L’attaque est sur un très bon équilibre. On y retrouve les arômes présents au nez, avec des épices un peu plus marquées et des arômes discrets de marmelade d’orange, de cerise et de vanille. La deuxième bouche, dans la continuité voit le café et l’alcool se renforcer. L’ensemble, sur des arômes pleins et enrobant parfaitement la bouche possède ainsi un bon petit caractère. L’arrière bouche est légèrement plus douce et avec une excellente présence. La troisième bouche présente des arômes plus purs de café de toute beauté avec une amertume alors à son maximum. Cette dernière retombe sur le final, avec un chocolat légèrement plus présent, sur la douceur. Très bel équilibre donc, avec un alcool efficace, un sucre un peu moins présent que sur les De Molen classiques (ce qui me va très bien) et une amertume juste. Ça me plaît !

Black, light tan creamy head. Rich malt and chocolate aroma, caramel, cocoa. Sweet flavour, malt, roast, caramel, hoppy bitterness. Licorice and coffee. Quite drinkable. Good.
