ABV may vary slightly.
The Export India Porter relates to porter in similar manner to the way the IPA relates to the Pale Ale: they added more hops. We’ve taken Barclay Perkins recipe from 1855, but changed the hops to Columbus and Cascade (American varieties) and hopped it in the same way that we hop our IPAs. The result is a dark brown beer that smells of cocoa, roses, and some orange. The body is quite light, and it is carbonated more highly than usual for a porter to make it more refreshing. It’s quite light in texture and tastes of Turkish delight dusted with cocoa powder – chocolate, rose water and fruit. Dry finish.

Taste is medium to very sweet, very to heavily bitter, light acidic and faint salty. Body is oily with light fizzy carbonation. Finish is very long and mostly bitter with notes of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, chocolate chip cookie, spruce, resin, bitter grapefruit, orange and hints of soy sauce. Rich and intense

330ml bottle, hops: Simcoe. Black pour, tanned creamy head with loads of retention; lovely looking. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, earthy and spicy hops. Wonderful smoothness and soft carbonation on the palate with flavours of roasted malts, dark chocolate, plums, blackberries, coffee, spice. Finish has a strong bitterness for this style, semi-dry and spicy. Rich and complex; wonderful beer.

Bottle from The Curious Hop, Otley. Pours black with a large very thick creamy beige head. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, nuts and also notes of dark fruits. Taste has all the notes from the aroma with a big roasty bitterness on the finish. Medium to full body with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Big flavourful Porter. Good
