Bottle from Dram Shop, Sheffield. Hazy amber colour. Tight, even, thin, lasting, white head. Good looking beer. Aroma is dried pineapple, vanilla custard, some sour yeastiness. Taste is dry, yeasty, with a light, gingery spiciness. Dry, light tart finish.

Single from the LCBO in a brown wine bottle with a plastic sleeve over the cap, 2013 written on it. Pours an amber colour with loads of tiny particles. The warm frothy head has decent retention and gives out nice sticky lace. Very sour aromas like a lambic with notes of fruity malts and Belgian Ale yeast. Oh wow... was expecting the sourness to continue in the taste, but no. Just the fruity malt and mild yeast. Actually, pretty floral overall in the mouth. Still can’t believe the sour nose does not show at all in the taste. As it breathes, the sourness seems to calm down and spices come out (even light cherries in the aromas). A decent Belgian-style ale, but a little too all over the place. Probably gets better with time.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 1/20/2012. Pours lightly cloudy golden orange color with a 2-3 finger foamy and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big pineapple, peach, apricot, orange peel, pear, apple, hay, floral, grass, candi sugar, caramel, pepper, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great complexity and balance of yeast ester, hop, and malt notes; with great strength. Taste of pineapple, peach, apricot, pear, apple, candi sugar, caramel, grass, floral, light funk, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Slight earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pineapple, peach, apricot, pear, apple, candi sugar, caramel, grass, floral, light funk, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and balance of yeast ester, hop, and malt flavors; with a great malt/fruitiness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent Belgian pale ale! All around great complexity and balance of yeast ester, malt, and hop flavors; and extremely smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Draft sampled at Goose Island Clybourn. Pours hazy amber with an off white head. Aroma of barnyard funk, horse blanket, fruits, and caramel. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

12 oz bottle of 2012 vintage from Westholme Stores, Goring. Clear amber with a controlled white head; pleasant Belgian yeast aroma; clean in the mouth with some fruit, but a predominiately yeasty taste; and a dry finish with a touch of spice. An elegant Belgian style beer - better than some real Belgian examples.

Aroma: On a sour / acid base we can find sugar cane, flowers, bubble gum, apple and banana. Superb complexity despite the acidity. Very wide palette. Appearance: Clear golden blond with a thick off white head, starting very sparkling and transforming itself into a beautiful foam. Lasting is quite long and the foam is sticking to glass leaving a small lacing. Taste: Sourness is smooth and opening for apple, pear and floral flavors. A little herbal bitterness is giving a little dry finish. Complexity of aroma is not repeating in flavors so well but remains interesting. An excellent balance between sugar and sourness. One of the few sour ales that I find delicious.
