Wild in character, a complex ale with dried fruit and clove aromas, and a satisfying dry finish. Inspired by great Trappist ales, our complex Belgian Style Pale Ale is fermented with the wild yeast Brettanomyces. Matilda pours a golden sunrise color with dried fruit and clove aromas, a spicy yeast flavor, and a satisfying dry finish.

355ml bottle. Cloudy, orangey, dark golden to amber colour with average, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Minimally bretty, funky yeasty, minimally bready, caramel malty and fruity aroma, hints of honey, gingerbread, honeydew melon, a touch of gooseberry. Taste is moderately dry, slightly grassy hoppy, minimally bready malty, hints of honeydew melon, a touch of gingerbread and clove; slightly creamy texture, minimally sweet-ish, sticky palate. Quite manifold and complex, somehow a bit to clean and engineer’d.

Certainly good, but considering how cheap some of the real Belgian ales are locally, better off going that route

Hint of Belgian yeast, hint of pale ale hops, hint of bretta. Summed up to a smooth unique beer.

Golden colour, white head. Malty aroma, yeast, reminding of Leffe. Sweet flavour, malts, banana. Sweet finish, malts, yeast and banana. Not my cup of tea.

At Bierkoning during Carnivale Brettanomyces. Classic Belgian-style ale by Goose Island, with very thick and dense, towering high, creamy, egg-white head and hazy orange blonde robe. Aroma of wet leather, fermenting hay, peach, strawberry, stewed pear, bitter honey, old dry sherry. Fruity sweetish, mildly estery onset, pear, mango and slight banana, some almost Brett-like ’funkiness’, supple malt sweetness, very earthy and yeasty ending with mild herbal and leafy hop bitterishness. If this is not a (new generation) saison, then I do not know what is...
