Champagne-Style Finish
Its fine bubbles and bright citrus flavor are ready for a celebration.
We brewed this new take on IPA with a bone-dry, champagne-style finish in mind. Late hop additions lend a bright pop of citrus flavor and create balanced bitterness. Brut IPA is as intriguing as it is drinkable.

Bottle at Oliver Twist. Clear light golden with a medium white head. On the sweet side with light hops and some fruit. The body was light and the finish quite dry. Drinkable but nothing special.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Andover Classic Wines. Appearance is mildly hazy pale yellow with slow, steady sparkle, 1/2-finger width quickly receding fizzy white head (like champagne) and trace lacing. Aroma is fruity hop mixed with bready/caramel malt with overriding tart yeast. Taste is cheap champagne, morphing into cracker/biscuit malt, mild grape. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with watery texture, lively, effervescent carbonation (like champagne) and dry, crisp finish. Overall, OK. The classic hop/malt mix that is so identifiably Sierra Nevada's signature is present in this brut so it fits right in with the brewer's lineup. However, it tastes a bit like the love child of Andre and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Now that the novelty of making beer sort of like champagne has worn off, let's hope we see making beer sort of like GOOD champagne (i.e., delightful flavor beyond the yeasty aroma, fizzy carbonation and dry finish).

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 21X - Brut IPA). Bottle 35 cl - Batch 122718M16:33/32818A20519 (BBF unknown - Bottled on 12/17/18). AROMA: medium hop aroma with a grassy, herbal predominant character. slight floral notes. APPEARANCE: light gold color and clear. medium low white head with low retention. TASTE: similar to the aroma with medium-low herbal hops with a slight floral note. neutral overall background with a low note of yeast. medium bitterness with a dry and slightly bitter finish with a note of yeast. PALATE: thin body with medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a nice brut IPA with emphasis on hops but with a slightly distracting yeast note.

Bottle from Citysuper at home. Clear very light straw yellow, almost apple juice. Thin quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is crisp biscuit malt and earthy pine hops - like the classic SN pale ale, but less sweet. Taste is pine, white grape, bitter, crisp, biscuit, but all light because of the intensely dry finish. Palate is light but not thin, and very carbonated. I had high expectations because I like this style, it’s good but not that interesting. Like a brut-ish SN pale ale, which it delivers on.

Bottle. Light almost glowing pale orange yellow with a thin fuzzy white head pale almost lager ish malt aroma. Very light bodied but also lacking much fresh hopmflavors. Not very pleasant lingering palemlager hop bite at the end. Didn’t love this one
