Sample at the Hopsnobbery Collective barrel-aged beer tasting on 08/11/2012. Opaque black pour with a medium khaki head that recedes steadily to a film. Small patches of lace. Lots of roasted coffee in the nose, plus some bourbon. Medium to full body with a big roasty character of coffee and malt along with some bourbon and fruit in the background. The finish is mildly bitter coffee and malt. Good beer from start to finish.

Picked this up in a trade. Poured into a Dogfish head Glass.

A - Poured with only half a finger head being revealed. The head was a coffee color with lacy bubbles. The beer was dark brown to black and didn’t pour too heavy.

S - Smells exactly like WA’s Coffeehouse Stout but with big bourbon notes that fill the nose. There’s a creamy scent as well with lots of vanilla.

T - Wow. Cream, coffee and sugar all in one sip. The bourbon flavor cuts through all of it and tingles your tongue. It’s like throwing a little bourbon in your morning coffee. Nutty / roasty malts are huge in this beer. Very delicious!

M - Silky smooth. I get this great tingle on the tongue. The coffee and cream linger far after you’ve swallowed. Not boozy or alcoholic in linger at all.

O - For fans of WA’s coffeehouse stout, this is a no brainer for a better but pricier beer. I am finding this very drinkable and delicious and am happy that I have two of them.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a medium beige / tan head. Aroma of coffee, bourbon barrels, roasted malt and milk / dark chocolate - very complex on the nose. Flavour of rich chocolate, espresso beans, rich roasted malt and great subtleties of the bourbon barrels without dominating. Rich palate with tons of depth - everything is in perfect harmony. The coffee and chocolate feature upfront with subtle barrels accentuating the flavours. Outstanding.

Bottle from a trade with ksurkin. Pours dark brown with light brown head. Aromas of boubon, coffee, vanilla and roasted malts. Flavors of sweet milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla, roasted malts and some bourbon. Full body with minimal carbonation. Thanks Ken.

Hazy black colour, beige head. Aroma with lots of coffee, malts, bourbon and milk. Flavour bitter coffee, mocha, malts, milk, roasted tones. Quite light carbonation. Very nice.

Bottle @ drbm. Black, short head. Wonderful aroma of fresh grinded coffee, roasted malts and a touch of vanilla and bourbon. The bourbon notes come through more in the taste and is wonderfully balanced with the sweet mocha and vanilla flavors on a good backbone of roasty imperial stout. Smooth as a whistle, wonderfully complex and balanced brew. Superb.

Another sweet ass bomber courtesy of the one and only ksurkin, thanks Ken. It pours deep inky darkness with mocha like head. The aroma is nice and rich and bold and smooth as well sending up big waves of caramel, fudge pudding, dark chocolate, vanilla wood notes, rich coffee goodness and some smooth bourbon notes. The taste is velvety smooth on the palate and creating such notes as smooth sweet fudge brownie, sweet coconut meat, veins of vanilla yum, sweet bourbon, smooth layers of black strap molasses and silky sweet coffee notes. Oh man, this is just yum-oh-lishious from front to back.
