AleSmith’s interpretation of this classic English-style ale is smooth, dark, and rich. A variety of specialty malts produce a brilliant dark brown color and a wonderful malt complexity. A light dose of East Kent Goldings and Styrian Goldings hops from England balance the malt sweetness without adding bitterness to the flavor profile. Reintrodcued at AleSmith in 2002, Nautical Nut Brown ale has quickly become one of our most popular beers.

Appearance is very dark brown, a slight ruby tinge, a small foamy beige head. Aroma- lots of nuts, dark fruit, raisin, hunts of vanilla, milk chocolate, toffee, caramel biscuit, malt. Taste- nutty, slightly roasty malt, hints of sweet dark fruit, raisin, chocolate and biscuity malt, bitter hops in the background.

Bottled. Chestnut brown, off white head. Soft sweetish nutty malty aroma. Sweet nutty malty taste. Simple clean, effective.

Bottle. Frothy off-white good mostly lasting head. Amber colour. Heavy malty and moderate hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter ok caramellic flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate.

Red-brown color. More earthy than nutty, some cardboard, very dry, which seems the best solution in this case. Correct bitterness.
Nice, a bit boring for me. Gets better as I drink more of it.

650 ml bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with moderate head. Aromas of nuts, biscuity malts, light powdery cocoa, and metal. Flavors follow same, more on acidic nuts and copper. Never been a fan of the style.
