Formerly known as Sparkling Ale (6/05)

A golden export-style ale made from only malt and hops, no fillers or adjuncts. A brillant golden colour gives a “sparkling” appearance as the gas escapes from the glass. The natural sweetness of the malt is perfectly balanced by the bitterness derived from the hops. This beer represents the way blonde ales were made 100 years ago.

Bouteille 341ml.

Bottle: Poured a light clear bright yellow color ale with a large fizzy head with minimal retention and not much lacing. Aroma of light sweet malt is quite bland. Taste is also dominated by light sweet malt notes with not many other noticeable characteristics. Boyd is light with fizzy carbonation. I had somehow missed trying that beer for so many years but I can now say that I wasn’t missing much.

Bottle courtesy of a traveling colleague. The beer is a clear yellow-gold color with a thin white head that recedes steadily. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of grainy malt and mild hops. Light body with flavors of bready malt, grain and subtle hops. The finish is short and malty. Barely average overall.

Bottled at The Globe, Central, HongKong. Clear pale golden, rich firm head. Perfumy nose with mild grss, viola and paper. Sweetish up front, getting drier as it goes. Light-medium bodied with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Slight spicy finish with a papery touch. A simple beer with good drinkabaility, seemingly designed for mass consumption rather that slow sipping and rating.

On tap at the brewpub. Light gold color with almost no head. Faint citrus hop aroma; light and fruity. Amazingly fruity, with cherry and muscat. Sweet, thin, and light. Too fruity. Almost like a soda pop. Not very impressive.

A lightly hazed pale gold ale with a thin white head. Lightly skunked lemony malt aroma. In mouth, a dry malt with macro profile, uninteresting. Bought at LCBO in November 2006.

This ale poured aclear light yellow colour with a white frothy head. To the nose...kind of typical. Usual scents...corn, sweet hop smell. First sip was sweet and a little watery. Very corn flavoured. The palate was very sweet. Non original.
