STEENBRUGGE Wit-Blanche abbey beer is a wheat beer brewed with 40% unmalted wheat and 60% malt. It has a refreshing flavour and a fruity, lightly smoked yeast aroma combined with the subtle Bruges “gruut” blend of herbs and spices, with an emphasis on coriander and Curaçao.

Bottle. An unclear, yellowish orange beer with a small, white head leaving lacings. Mashed apples and a spiced touch. Quite dry in the mouth, medium bodied, with flavors of citrus and pale malty sweetness. A rather simple beer, goes down easily, but gives you almost nothing, 100522

33cl bottle from Alko, (20.11.09). Pours a hazy yellow color, huge white head. Mostly lemon in aroma. Flavor is also mostly lemon with some herbs. Fizzy mouthfeel, quite similar to many other witbeers I have tried. Refreshing.

Draught, smallish head, hazy pale lemony colour, malty bready aroma with a touch of yeast and caramel. Lemony fruity flavour with candied fruit, medium bitterness, medium bodied, suprisingly bigger than expected, light sour aftertaste. Good wit, a bit different.

Light, hazy yellow colour, thin receding head. Intense herbal aroma. Thin, watery texture. Flavour is dominated too much by the herbs and spices. It doesn’t taste enough like beer!

Draught Good, very fine snowwhite head, with sticking lace over fully hazy golden-orange beer. Coriander, dull grains & wheat, citrus aromas. Typical coriander /citrus flavour, spiciness - with coriander and rootspices - too outspoken. Light to medium body. Warming up, strawberry flavour. Ubiquitous wit. Best forgotten.
