Jacobite Ale

Bottle as shown thanks to Paul! Pours a cloudy brown with beige head that diminishes. The aroma is candy sugar, spice, and caramel. Medium mouthfeel with sugary malt and boozy finish. Good.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons, Coquelles, France. A dark brown coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Sweet aroma of caramel and prunes. Taste is similar, sweet, prunes (reminds me of school dinner dessert in the 70’s), spice, caramel, feels very vintage this one. Very good.

Spicy, smoky beer, pours dark cola brown with thin fizzy head. Aroma is sweet and floral, taste is more earthy, peat, wooden. Some of the coriander comes through on the palate. Complex beer, but very good.

Pours a dark brown close to black and yields the same colored body, the head was about a slim finger’s worth of white foaminess, lacing is adequate and graces the sides of the glass in a spider web sort of fashion; the smell is a rich sort of sweet somewhat cherished coriander-ish aroma, it wants to creep up on ya with some odd oaky molasses that ends up shouldering into some dark fruit but for the most part, they pretty much stay subdued; I do get some black licorice coming through as well; the taste has a rich sweetness in there and then the spicy coriander comes through to help to balance it just a bit, there is some black licorice as well; am I getting a \"whiskey\" sort of background in the taste - in my opinion, I think so, slightly sweet molasses aftertaste and that leads into a super dry molasses finish; on the palate, well, its not as easy as some might want it to be, but its not too heavy, however, there is a decent coating of black licorice penetrating the mouth and tongue; overall, I would say a pretty good Scotch Ale that I would have again especially with that coriander coming out to add a slight spice - nice night cap

Poured from 33cl bottle. Very dark reddish brown with dissipating beige head. Aroma of caramel, prune, fig. Dark fruits are there, but light. Alcohol is mostly masked. Body is light and creamy and works well.

Botella de 33 cl en el Lúpulo Septiembre de 2012. Bueno esto ya es otra cosa,,,, la mejor de las tres de esta casa que he tomado hasta el momento. Gran potencia alcohólica muy bien integrada con el cuerpo medio - fuerte que presenta la cerveza. Color negro con espuma oscura no muy persistente. Sabores menos herbáceos y maltas tostadas y quemadas combinados perfectamente con una densidad muy interesante. Olor penetrante especiado con algo de tostado. Para repetir sin problema una y otra vez mas. ---Me traduzco la etiqueta con la historia de las puertas de la cervecera---Las famosas puertas del oso que custodiaban la aproximación a Traquair House, cerca de Playa de piedras, se han cerrado desde 1745 - cuando la última persona en pasar a través de ellas era Bonnie Prince Charlie. Ahora, 250 años después, la antigua Brew House Traquair celebra la causa jacobita al producir esta cerveza especiada potente para una receta bien tradicional. Beba despacio y recuerde el viejo brindis por el "Rey de O’er el agua."

Bouteille 33cl, BB 12/2022. Couleur acajou-brune, col beige pas très tenace. Arôme est fruité noir; date et raisin avec un bouquet farineux. Pointe de noisette sur un léger malt biscuité. Fine note de sucre caramélisé. Palais fruité noir, sucre brun, léger caramel. Fruité noir tirant sur la figue et raisin sec, cerise noire. Profil reste très anglais, le tout rondement bien brassée. Mat cara assez sec, pointe de chocolaté, touche d’épice et peut-être une note de réglisse? Fini sec et râpeux.

Bottle on the train from Thurso to Inverness, from Tomlinsons, 20/10/13. Dark mahogony brown with a thin light tan covering. Nose is treacle toffee, dates, dark fruit skins, leather, cake mix, dark malts, pinch of spice. Taste comprises dates, brown sugars, raw cake mix, candied orange peel, spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light booze in the finish. Decent enough stuff, the 8% alcohol is well integrated, could carry a bit mroe depth of flavour though - all a bit cake mix!
