Cette bière donne l'impression de contenir vraiment beaucoup d'épices et/ou aromates. Elle est sucré, mais laisse quand même une finale assez sèche. Les noix et la mélasse dominent le goût.

Bottle from the LCBO. Clear dark ruby under a tiny beige head that fades quickly leaving just a hint of lace. Nose is dark fruit, molasses, anise, light chocolate, roasted nuts. Light caramel sweetness with a medium- plum and cherry tartness. Mouth is medium+ and oily with soft carbonation and a sticky finish. 8/3/7+/4/14+

330ml bottle. Dark, chestnut colour with faint ruby glimmer and small, frothy, fading, minimally lacing, off-white head. Chocolately, dark malty and slightly spicy aroma, a touch of nutmeg and cinnamon, fruity hints of dark berries and black cherry, herbal overtones. Taste is toasty dark malty, slightly chocolately, a touch of caramel, fruity hints of plum and cherry, a spicy touch of cinnamon and nutmeg, subtle honey-like sweetness. Slightly creamy texture, minimally prickly carbonation.

Bottle from Hogs Back brewery shop. Low key aroma - a mix of fruit (figs?) and glue. Opaque dark brown. The light beige head started off promisingly frothy but soon fled into the night like a defeated Jacobite. Some light bitterness before a rich sweetness envelops it. Dried fruits. Thick bodies. creamy. Downtunes fizzy carbonation. Abrupt finish. I was expecting then dried fruits however it was all on lower scale than I had preempted. This is not a bad thing - smoth and rich. Hides the ABV so well.

This will be my intro to Traquair House. I stumbled upon a 500ml bottle of Jacobite Ale at The Cellar in Odessa, TX, go figure. Cooled off considerably and poured into my ABGB snifter on a early fall evening. The delivery is to my liking, a rich dark chocolate-amber body with a minimal light tan skim of foam. I lift for a smell, ripe fruit, slightly floral, toffee. A sip now, malty, a bit of spice, leather, wheat toast, does not quite keep up with the scent. But I am now enlightened as to a Traditional Ale and it does get better as I stay with it.
