Our Bourbon barrel-aged version of Santa’s Little Helper, this Imperial Stout begins the journey with flavors of sweet Bourbon and oak, continues with hints of nutty dark chocolate and malt and finishes with a smoky coffee finish. A perfect beer to leave for the Jolly Old Fat Man instead of milk and cookies.

Bottle at a Ratebeer "sticky floor" tasting, Den Haag. The aroma is rich bitter and alcoholic. The flavour follows on from the aroma. A tasty beer but not for a session.

22 ounce bottle. Vintage 2012. Opague black liquid topped by a small tan head. Big oaky roasted malt aroma. Wow! Huge bittersweet roasted malt flavor dominated by an intense oaky, hoppy, chocolatey explosion. Warming alcohol with each swallow. Obvious bourbon notes with touches of smoke’ dried currants and spuce. Not for the faint of heart. Happy efffing Xmas!

Dark ruby-brown color, small beige. Strong vanilla aroma, light licorice. Full-bodied. Sweet vanilla, licorice, roasted malts. Nice barrel aging, but too much alcohol.

Bottled@vPBF2012. Extremely deep amber colour being very close to black. Aroma is liquorice, some alcohol, mild smoked notes as well as some earthy notes. Flavour is liquorice, alcohol, some ripe fruits as well as mild dry wooden notes. Quite pleasant balance as for the flavour.

65 cl bottle (12%) @ vPBF, no BBE info
Aroma is sweet with cocoa, some rum, woody notes and licorice. Flavour has rather strong bourbon and woody notes with some vanilla and salty licorice. Too sweet but not bad anyway.

Pours dark brown, almost black, with a tiny head. Aroma of syrup, oak, vanilla, hints of roastiness and spices. Taste is sweet and syrupy with notes of oak, vanilla, chocolate and coffee. Sweet and syrupy finish with notes of vanilla and oak. Too sweet for my taste.

HFS glass. 60 Degres F Poured midnight black. absolutely no head at all. Very still beer which is making me nervous. Nice alcohol legs. Mild level of bourbon, nice malt backbone. Hints of coffee. Some vanilla but really espresso bean is dominating. Taste is fine with nice vanilla and espresso. Hints of cocoa and some sugar. Very malty finish. Not too balanced but the bourbon is a nice touch. No carbonation at all. Heavy body. Cocoa and coffee bitterness at the finish.
