500ml bottle at home. Dark brown pour, no head. Coffee, raisin, oat aromas. Taste has more of the same, plus a fruity plum note. Sweet finish. Thin.

Thanks to Seanyfo. Dark in the glass with beige head. Nice thick aroma with stout-typical slightly sourness. The beer itself starts dark, aromatic. Nicely roasted, very dry. The mainpart is slightly flowery, nice, balanced, not too thick. The aftertaste is long, roasted, dry, slightly sour and highly drinkable! --> very nice stout! Aromatic and also suitable as a session beer! 12/13/12/12

Bottle purchased from Tesco in Watford. Looks very appealing; wonderful pitch black and with an off-white head. Aroma is very sweet and although it nice burnt notes, those are pushed to the back. Taste is similarly saccharine in my opinion. Disappointing, but I just can’t ever get into sweet stouts.

Cask @ JDW Elgin [190313]
Black, ruby edges in glass, thin tan head
Aroma of sweet dark malts, plain chocolate, soft coffee, quite a lot of cocoa
Taste- Dark roased malt, dark sugars, odd hint of rubber, then the mouthfeel collapses in the middle, watery, bland, vegetal notes, hints of tcp, hints of dirt, poor flavour - an utter total mess
Palate - Far too thin for a stout, some smoothness initially but then a watery middle with no body. Finish is rapid and dull
Overall - The aroma was pretty good, but the taste was very poor and the body was watery. With rich ingredients as used make a stout, it should be a highlight beer from the brewery - but I have no idea how TSA could mess this up so badly. I’m not wasting my money on beer from this lousy brewery in the future......

A strong aroma of toasted malt and the flavour is the same, with a little smokiness. It’s a simple, clean taste and very drinkable.

Toasty malt aroma. Smooth, creamy texture. Flavour has bitter chocolate and a creamy, bittersweet finish.

330 ml bottle from my friend from Aberdeen brought over in his luggage. Nose is sweet chocolate, oatmeal, and light roasty notes. Black with a medium tan head. Flavor is chocolatey, lightly sweet, and an oatmeal pastiness. Pretty good for a light 4.5% session stout .

Bottle from one of the supermarkets. Dark reddish brown pour with a huge frothy tan head and heavy carbonation at the initial pour. Big smooth malty aroma with lots of malty caramel notes in the flavour. There is little bitterness in this beer but make no doubt about it, this is an excellent and very tasty stout.

28th Sep 2012: random beer tasting evening, this 500ml bottle was shared with my Son-in-Law. Pours a lovely deep black: on top a thick head of tan coloured foam, this falls away slowly to a thinner but still full covering as the beer level fell. Couldn’t find any ’wild oats’ in the nose or taste: plenty of chocolate like notes though and other malty flavours (coffee for one) to be found in both aroma and taste wise. Thought it might have been a bit richer and creamier: on the thin side for a stout in my opinion. Otherwise a fine beer and I’d love to try a cask conditioned one.

500ml bottle - treacle black pour with tan head, thick at first but settles to a thin coating. Nice toasted malt aroma, but thin body and bland oatie taste lets it down. A good stout, but not the best.
