Bottle in the hotel room, Aberdeen. Pours black-brown with a small, creamy tan head. Enticingly sweet and roasty aroma, with hints of charcoal and cocoa. Medium sweet flavor, with milk chocolate, modest roast, light burnt earth. Light to medium bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. Sweet, lightly roasty finish, some dark sugars, faint grassy tang, light coffee, faint peat. A decent stout overall. It comes across as just slightly too sweet, but still nice.

Bottle from Tesco.
Black with ruby edges, frothy tan head, reasonable lacing.
Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, sweet malt, hint of burnt crust and spicy hops, bit of smoke.
Taste - sweet roasted malts, chocolate, hint of coffee, bit dull for a stout.
Palate - soft carb, thin body, smooth texture. Quite sweet, slight tang on the palate. Finish - sweet dark malts, bit of roasted malt, rapid finish.
Overall - OK to drink but a bit dull.

The taste is chocolate, roasted malt, lactose, charcoal, liquorice, tar, caramel, blackcurrant and sesame seed, with a dry finish. It is medium bodied, has soft carbonation and a foamy mouth-feel.
