Cask @ Ayrshire Real Ale Festival 09. Black colour, no head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Flavour of roasted malts, coffee. No hops. Not too good.
Cask @ Esquire House, JDW. In a lot better condition here. Dark roasted, medium bodied and a slight salami smokeyness. Lovely. + .6

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars’ Scottish beer festival, Bristol 02/09/09. Near black with a slight tan head. Roasted malt and caramel aroma. Flavour had more roastiness, some milky oats and a light sourness. A bit thin for a stout but drinkable enough.

50cl Bottle brought back from Scotland, thanks mom & Henk! Deep dark brown to black colour, thin beige head. Aroma of peaty roasted malts, a hint of chocolate in the back. Flavour is roasted malts, a hint of chocolate, coffee sourness (also from the CO2). Soft roasted bitter finish, but a bit watery. Nice flavours, but this beer lacks some serious body to be really good. For the ABV, a good stout.

500ml bottle. Deep tawny brown with a ring of cream head; pleasant sweet roasted oat aroma; creamy texture with lots of roast malts - traces of tar, smoke, milk chocolate and porridge oats; satisfying finish with some coffee notes. Excellent.

Cask, half by air compressor dispense. Light brownish head over a very dark coloured body. Plain dark malty aroma. Flavour has got roasted grain and oatmeal up front, followed by hints of liquorice and flashes of dark fruits. Ends with bitter coffee notes. A little watery in the mouth. After this one we finished our drinking session at the fantastic Bow Bar with the delicious BrewDog Punk IPA, which has not got a separate cask entry [Edinburgh 13.11.2008].

The color is almost black. Mild aroma of roasted malt and cardboard. Soft mouthfeel (also because of the lack of carbonation), some roasted malt and chocolate flavor, not aggressive, with a hint of liquorice, yeast and cardboard. Not bad.

50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a creamy and tan head. Roasted malty and slight chocolate aroma. Mild acidic flavoured from a hardroasted malt, holds a mild chocolate smoothness to this and with a distinct acidic roasted note. Bitter and roasted malty finish with a smooth oat-ish texture. Nice one.
