[i] [b] Cask at The Hop Pole pubs Easter Beer Festival, Aylesbury in the company of Loz, Chris O, Ruth, Barry, Lynn 21-03-08 [/i] [/b] Good roasted smooth toasty bitterness to this. Pours black with tiny tan head smooth and easy drinking, bit earthy and some bitter chocolate. Good beer that could just have done with a little bit more going on to elevate it into very good beer territory.

[i] Bottle, Many thanks to Craig aka Cgarvieuk for picking this up for me [/i] This poured black with a busy beige head, nice roasted aroma. This beer was truly lovely, nothing complicated just a simple stout done very well, nice roasted smoky flavours tempered with just the right amount of sweetness to take off the bitter edge, good vanilla and chocolaty creaminess in the background contribute to make this a really nice beer.

Bottled. Transparently near black, no head. Aroma of coffee and menthol. Fairly sweet with rounded, plastic mouthfeel. A bit strange. Flavourwise it’s kind of void, and the malt profile is bold. Light peppery finish. Not at all as good as the cask version.

Dark ruby brown color, very small off-white head. Mild roasted coffee beans aroma, a bit ashy too. Cold coffee and ash are in the flavor too. Decently strong aroma and flavor for 4.5 % beer, reminds me about Daleside Porter and Chocolate Stout.

Cask@Loughborough Beer Festival 2007. Black beer with a light head. The aroma is lightly dandelion and burdock, and the flavour is weirdly floral with a dandelion and burdock finish. Overall a weird stout, I do not know what to make of it.
