Don’t just take our word for it, ask any fisherman and they’ll attest – it’s not only the trickle of trout that bites on the tranquil River Stour at Blandford.
Should you wade these waters on a warm summer’s night, beware the infamous Blandford Fly, whose bothersome bite can only be soothed with a spicy slice of fresh ginger.
A uniquely sweet and spicy golden ale with a refreshingly different ginger taste, offset with hints of sweet toffee.

Bardzo przyjemne i rozgrzewające piwo, a to za sprawą imbiru. Nie jest to dominujące ale wyczuwa się w zarówno smaku jak i zapachu tę przyprawę. Kolor jasny, pienisty. Wspaniale komponuje się z tłustymi potrawami

[Initial rate, 10/8/12, 500ml bottle, gift from Maureen & Dave] RB score 4/2/2/2/4 (1.4) Light amber, rapidly vanishing white head, very fizzy. Aroma of a low-grade pasteurised bottled bitter - a bit of cardboard, some grass and twigs. But the problems truly started on tasting; it’s horribly sweet, with a flavour dominated by bubblegum. The ginger is obvious too, but it’s the bubblegum that dominates. There’s a vague hint of cheap, weak cardboardy beer in the finish, but really this is an awful drink.[Second rate, 6/2/14, bottle, gift from Maureen & Dave again] RB rating 3/3/1/1/2 (1) Sickly sweet, with awful metallic overtones from excessive pasturisation and a nasty soapy aftertaste. The pinch of ginger powder in the background is possibly an attempt to cover up the many defects, but utterly fails to do this. This is disgusting - surely it’s not beer? Maybe it’s actually poison. Yes, that must be it. I feel quite ill having drunk it all actually. Farewell, my friends... [Third rate, 30/4/2016, bottle, gift from Maureen & Dave AGAIN (if you’re reading this - I am very grateful for you giving me beers but I’d be even more grateful if you avoid this one in future!] RB score 2/3/2/1/3 (1.1). Well, it didn’t kill me last time, maybe I’m safe to try again. Sweet ginger soap. Sticky and unpleasant. Still horrible. Overall score is the average of all rates.

Bottle shared. Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma of ginger and sweet malt. Medium to heavy sweet flavour going into a strange sharp ginger finish, not good! Light bodied with soft carbonation.

500ml bottle - pours a clear gold with a thin white head that soon dissipates, aroma of spicy and sweet ginger cookies, and a taste that is sweet and sugary. The lasting after taste of ginger wins a few marks, but like most ginger based beers, this is too sweet.

Bottle from Morrisons (Blandford Flyer)
Amber, clear, white frothy head.
Aroma - Ginger, sweet malts, cereal, faint grass.
Taste - Strong ginger, caramel malts, toffee, good ginger flavour.
Palate - soft carb, medium body, smooth texture, sweet, ginger tang. Finish - Ginger heat, smooth caramel sweet malts, lingering heat.
Overall - Lots of ginger here, very prominent and has a lot of heat at the end, the underlying beer is simple but pleasant - the ginger flavour is good. It is rather 1-dimensional and if you don’t like ginger you won’t like this beer. An unusual one - I thought it was OK.
