On tap at Winterbierfestival Enschede 2016. Hazy, dark brownish red to black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Sweetish-malty aroma of brown sugar, caramel, raisins. Sweet, fruity-malty taste of caramel, brown sugar, raisins, hints of chocolate and cinnamon, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter finish. Medium to full body, creamy to oily mouthfeel, flat. Way too sweet, actually unpleasant.

(Draught at De Drie Dorstige Herten, Utrecht, 26 Feb 2015) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty nose with caramel, black rye bread, coffee and liquorice. Malty, roasted taste with notes of caramel, black rye bread, liquorice, coffee and finish with a balanced spicy bitterness and a certain alcohol bite. Almost full body, slightly sweetish. Warming and powerful, but quite well balanced and tasty. Nice one.

Trappist-style abt with thick, yellowish white, moussy head and deep copper colour with tiny yeast bit floating around here and there. Strong sweet aroma of raisins, plums, pear, candi syrup, chocolate, coffee powder, ginger, grapefruit, kahlua and some DMS (cooked cabbage). Dark fruitiness in the mouth, full and almost syrupy mouthfeel, rich nutty and chocolatey maltiness, some iron and spices, leafy hop bitter and roasted bitter touch in the finish, bit powdery with warming alcohol and light cloying sweetness from the onset. Very tasty.
