Pours a deep red-copper color. A special batch of Inis & Gunn beer was brewed and matured in oak for 60 days; 30 days in American oak barrels, and 30 days in navy rum barrels. It was then matured 47 more days for a full marriage of flavors.
NOTE: Rum Aged, Rum Finish & Oak Aged Rum Finish are the same beer as Rum Cask. They are an alias for different export markets with a tweaked process.
Innis & Gunn: "They are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same.

35 cl bottle. 6.8%. Dark amber to red color, big offwhite head. Fruity smell, banana upfront then winey notes. Aroma is fruity with dry cherry and rum in the finish, caramel, malts component is quite solid, not dense, a bit dusty. Wody overtones, wheat, faint bubblegum. Flattish taste, mildly sour, vague bitterness. Average carbonation, medium bodied. Dry aromatic finish. Medium complexity, peculiar aftertaste

2013 sample bottle. Not too strong an aroma; I don’t pick up anything until I’ve raised a lot of foam in the glass, then there’s a clear scent of run and a bit of brown sugar in the air. Lends a nice alcohol note to the nose as well. Body is brown, but well-filtered so there’s plenty of light behind. Big head of foam that settles quickly like a soda pop. Mouthfeel, like that of the previous I & G beer, is a bit watery at first. It takes a little while for that sensation of, maybe, a rum and water to fill in. And that rum does not let any oak sensation filter through. But again, it is it’s own beer, whit it’s own character.

12 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown with an amber hue and a small beige head. Nose brings out English malts, dry bready caramel, and very subtle rum notes. Flavour is along the same lines, very subtle and smooth, with notes of toffee, vanilla, cocoa and bready malts -- not really much rum, but the subtleties are really nice. This is much better than I expected. Rather quite nice really.

Bottle @ Bothy Bar, Mac Donald Hotel, Kinlochleven. Amber colour, some white foam. Medium carbonation. Thin palate. Aroma of caramel with light roasted malts, vinous notes and nice rum finish. Ok beer, nothing exceptional.
