This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a dark hazy brown to black color with a level white one finger foamy head. Once it died off a bit, there’s a nice adequate somewhat foamy lacing.
The smell had some sweet English malts with a sliding in and out oaky to somewhat nuttiness.
The taste was basically the same with more of a pronounced nuttiness trying to invade my taste buds.
On the palate, this one sat between sessionable and sipping quality. The carbonation finishes somewhat sweet and smooth.
Overall, good English Strong stout that hides its ABV quite well.

Bottle at 6.8%. Pours clear brown with thin off-white head. Aroma is vanilla, caramel, fruity. Crisper and not as smooth than the \"original\" version. Fantastic with an extra mature cheddar.

Light roasted, a hint alcohol. Chestnut, low head. Barrel notes, rum vanilla, oak. Medium light body, mellow mouthfeel. Barrel aftertaste

0,33L bottle as Rum Finish (6,8% ABV). Pours clear copper with light tan head. The head stays. Aroma is malt and sweetness. Taste is sweet, malt, slight metallic notes, and some fruits. Overall: sweet and simple brew.

330 ml bottle. Pours a medium amber colour with an average sized beige head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, oak and rum. Flavour is sweet with caramel, malt, rum and a dry oaky finish. Medium body, oily texture and soft carbonation. Exceeded my expectations.

Clear copper, small and fizzy offwhite head. Malty aroma. Flavour is malty, soft caramel, vanilla. Finish has a hint of rum.

Bottle from the LCBO. Pours a clear dark reddish brown with a small tan head that quickly fades. Nose has lots of toffee rum, oak, banana and some dark fruits. Quite sweet cherry and caramel with some vanilla a bit of tartness as well. Medium slick mouth with soft carbonation

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkel bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch leicht röstmalzig, dunkle Früchte, würzig, holzig. Geschmack nach dunklen reifen Früchten, malzig süß, leicht würzig, holzig.

330 ml bottle. Pours dark reddish-brown with a small beige head, leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet, some maple syrup and honey, together with a well hidden malt backbone. A bit of alcohol. Taste reveals some delicate character - it is still a bit sweet but not syrupy any longer. It feels as a lighter version of cognac, well aged. It has some honey, caramelized fruit and a bit of warming alcohol. And yes, finish feels like rum, just as it is saying on the label. This beer is a treat, especially on a chilly winter day.

330 ml bottle into snifter, best before 4/2014. Pours crystal clear deep ruby red color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, toffee, toast, vanilla, rum, oak, plum, brown bread, light clove, herbal, and oak earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and oak notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, toast, toffee, vanilla, rum, oak, plum, brown bread, light clove, light coconut, herbal, and toast/yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, vanilla, rum, oak, plum, brown bread, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of malt and oak flavors; with a great malt/oak flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice oaked scotch ale! All around good complexity and balance of malt and oak flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.
