All New Englanders have a special place in their hearts for the old, dilapidated covered bridge of their youth. Maybe you rumbled over one every day riding shotgun in the family’s rusted-out pickup truck, or maybe one stands out from some rustic vacation largely long-since forgotten. No matter the case, they remain a symbol of nostalgia and youthful exuberance, a figurative bridge to another time.

For the traditionalist, the sentimental at heart, we offer Robust Porter, our take on a style of beer that, like these bridges, has remained impervious to trends, stalwart in the face of change. One gulp and you’ll be teleported to a simpler time. To that, all we can say is, Cheers

Bottle from Rudat, Dortmund. The beer starts malty intense. Dark red fruit, plums, malt with a nice subtle but intense sweetness. Viscous, bitter-sweet, a bit too burned in the end, still easy to drink, roasted burned malt with plums and quite much hop bitterness in the end. Very interesting but nice!

Draft @ beer temple. Black pour, white head. Aroma of dry coffee and cacao. Taste is very dry as well, with lots of roasted malt and coffee. Good porter.

Bottle at home split with Sarah. Dark mahogany brown coloured pour with reddy hues and a lasting light tan head. Aroma is sweet woody caramel, vanilla, with dark choc and woody roast with a hint of smoke. Flavour is composed of dark malts, robust roast and dark choc bitterness, little chalky mineral, charcoal. Palate is medium bodies, with spritzy carbonation, chalky water profile. Good beer but lacks a bit of depth.

350ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Dusty, chocolately, dark malty aroma, hints of cocoa, unroasted coffee beans. Taste is initially dry, chocolately, roasty, spicy dark malty with subtle sweetness, slightly dusty, later with more and more resinous hoppy influences; lasting, bitter, roasty, spicy finish, full body, super soft palate. Paradigmatic.

Bottle. Nose is sweet coffee, malt, toast, chocolate. Taste is leading bitterness, with a gentle undercurrent of chocolate, coffee, and smoke. Notes of ash, vanilla and hazelnut emerge on subsequent tastes. Mouthfeel is good. A note perfect porter.
