De Tripel van Westmalle is een helder, goudgeel trappistenbier van 9,5°. Het langzame brouwproces en de nagisting op fles leveren een complex bier op, met een fruitige geur van rijpe banaan en een mooie, genuanceerde hopneus. De zachte en romige smaak, met een bittere toets gedragen door het fruitaroma, heeft veel finesse en elegantie. Geniet ook na van de heerlijk lange en droge afdronk.

Bottle. Had it many a time, before rating. Slightly Hazy gold, big very fine bubbled head. Nose of caramel wafers, complex yeast esters, fine honey. The flavor is sweet but dry, magically balanced with smooth hop bitterness. Lots of honey and biscuit notes and a deep, rich complexity from the yeast. If you don't like this, go back to Bud Lite? 😉

Servida en el cáliz de Chimay. Color ámbar, bastante turbia. Genera una gran capa de espuma blanca de buena retención. Aromas florales, especias y cereales. En boca es una maravilla, abundante carbonatación y cuerpo medio. Destacan las notas a plátano, dulzor de la malta, miel y especias. Bien integrada la gran carga alcohólica, se siente pero no empaña el resto de sabores.

Pours golden, medium creamy head. Strong yeasty, fruity aroma. Present of maltiness and fruits is nicely balanced. Alcohol presence. Moderate body. Very nice.

Blimey. Didn’t realise this was a tick. Bottle. Waitrose. Hazed gold with a very dense, thin, lasting and semi lacing just off white head. Nose has boozy esters. Fruit. Buttered granary. Sweaty yeast. Taste is sweet and estery. Pretty dry, with leafy grassy bitterness. Smooth and easy drinking at the ABV. Fine foamy carbonation. Lingering bitterness to finish. Reminds me of Renard Noir.

Inconceivably this is not rated. Nose is pear drops, candy sugar, herbal hop. Taste is fruity, leading to candy sugar, pronounced pear drops, banana, caramel, grains, leading to a dry finish than you might expect, with a herbal almost medicinal hop note, with a touch of anise and pepper and lots of spice. Bottle aged six years. Nose is mineral slight herbal, slightly sweet. Taste is banana, pear, soft sweet taste, but with a drier finish. Anise pepper. Really delicious
