Brown colored. Strong aroma. With its aspect of coffee/mocha, it releases a taste of roasted malt not too deep and not too neutral. Slightly spicy, it reminds you that this beer is essentially for degustation. It can be consumed at the room temperature or slightly cooled.

Bottle. Pours cloudy dark copper brown with stable off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel, and fruit, with alcohol notes in the long nose. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt, with fruity notes, and sparse touches of roast. Discernible, warming alcohol presence. A decent Dubbel, but nothing revolutionary.

Hazy dark chestnut colour, creamy tan head, dissipates slowly, good layer remains, nice lacing. Roasted malt aroma with fruity tones, dark fruit, bread, caramel, brown sugar, almonds. Mild medium sweet, roasty, coffee, slightly bitter, fruity tones (raisins, figs). Medium to heavy body, bit sticky texture, average carbo. Smooth sweetbitter finish, light spicy and fruity undertones.

2001 Vintage (presumably, bottle was BBF 2003). 33 cl. bottle sampled @ Kulminator. Dark brown, blackish, tanned head. Pretty odd taste dark malt, dark fruits, caramel, brown sugar finish is odd mix coffee filter, some grounds, sourness, some syrup, roast some grounds,… Pretty odd, doing a full bottle of this would be pretty hard I figure. I assume that aging is responsible for the odd flavours, I see them coming back in reviews of fresh bottles. Surprisingly no sign of oxidation, thinning, lighter body,…Very strange brew, not bad but bit too much as well. Surprised by the lack of off-notes.

33 cl bottle @ HeBF’13, BBE 17.01.2014
Aroma is quite light with some brown sugar and ripe fruits. Flavour is sugary sweet with some ripe fruits and hints of brown sugar. Also hints of metal on some sips. Woody and leathery palate. Too sweet and feels a bit watery too.
