De goudblonde Extra wordt slechts tweemaal per jaar gebrouwen en is alleen bedoeld voor intern gebruik. Dit bier drinken de monniken en hun gasten immers enkel bij het middagmaal. Typisch voor de Extra is dat hij alleen met water, gerstemout en hopbellen wordt gebrouwen. Hij deelt zijn gist met de Dubbel en Tripel en is dus ook een bier van hoge gisting, al bevat hij maar 4,8% alcohol. Het aroma is typisch Westmalle en het hoppige karakter zorgt voor een dorstlessende droge afdronk.

Hatalmas, hófehér, örökké tartó hab, kissé opálos, arany szín. Gabonás, malátás, kenyeres, kissé fűszeres illat. Malátás, gabonás, fűszeres, élesztős ízvilág. Könnyű, közepesen szénsavas, alig érezhetően kesernyés. Nagyon finom, frissítő, jó egyensúllyal rendelkező belgian ale.

Bottiglia. Il gusto al naso resta attratto dal fruttato. L'intensità olfattiva è elevata e la maniera in cui permane è sufficiente. Il mantello birroso superiore è caratterizzato da una schiuma dalla buona tenuta. La grandezza delle bollicine è medio-fine. Il liquido si presenta velato. Bollicine medio-fini costituiscono anche la forma del perlage, con carbonazione persistente. Il colore è giallo dorato brillante. Il corpo è rotondo. L'amaro è pronunciato. La forza gustativa è elevata e la persistenza è buona. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano di pronta beva . Il retrogusto è intenso. In bocca l'aroma è quello di miele, cracker, frutta secca, agrumi, spezie e lievito.

Bottle from Burg Bieren, Ermelo. Aroma is estery yeast with pale malt, fruity notes, hint of hops. More yeasty notes throughout. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Like a sessionable version of the Tripel with that typical estery Westmalle yeast.

Аромат немного пшеничный, легкие нотки от специй вроде кориандра, хотя может и кажется, не кончено много солода. Цвет обычный, мутно золотистый, пенка средняя. Вкус совершенно обычный, как не иронично но и хмелевой и солодовой в равной степени. Сначала более пшеничные мотивы, далее при глотке хмель с сухость легкой. Послевкусие легко пшеничное с хмелевой сухость но и солодовой и зерновой терпкостью. В целом обычный эль из Бельгии. Ничего плохого но и выдающегося.

330ml bottle from Cotteridge Wines, pours hazy golden with a white head. Aromas & tastes of light citrus, honey, wood & yeast. Medium body. Dry mild bitter finish

Bottle, almost 1.5 years after bottling. Pours a clear golden body and a big, rocky white head with long retention. Aroma's: fruity, a bit yeasty. Retronasal: quite fruity, light malts. Flavour is light malty/worty sweet with some fruity sourness. Light bodied. Firm carbonation. Finish is slightly dry but with hardly any bitterness.

Bottle at the June 2024 Belgian PS tasting, 6/8/24. Slightly hazy gold, medium tan head, good retention. Aroma of doughy malt, stone fruit, citrus. Taste is citrus, bready malt, yeast, nuts. Well balanced, dry.

Bottle 0,33ltr: Hazy blond colored brew with an dry bitter taste and hints of lemon, sour apples and hoppiness. Nice this rare, but if you look good monastery beer.
