Introducing Numero Uno Summer Cerveza, our just-released summer seasonal that begs for warm temps and long nights. Originally released as Agave Cerveza in the summer of 2014 as part of our Brewhouse Rarities program, it’s the artisanal answer to the easy-drinking, south-of-the-border slammers the younger versions of ourselves knew and loved.
Flaked maize makes up one third of the malt bill and highlights the distinctive corn and cracker flavor traditionally found in Mexican lagers. Agave is added at the end of the boil and the lime peel post-fermentation to impart a distinct, zesty character and a crisp, clean finish. Your new Summer Cerveza clocks in at 4.9% ABV.

Bottle from Biernavigatie. Aroma is corn, lime peel, herbal notes, agave, soda, and crackers. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Body is light, weak, watery. Not terrible, I like how the agave works although it is hardly subtle, but overall this is too weak and corny for my taste.

Can. Pours clear golden yellow, small fizzy white head, decent lacing. Aroma is corn, lime, grain, cracker, light noble hop. Flavor is crisp, light sweet, light bitter. Light body. Pretty solid actually; could use a touch more bitterness.

Draft at the Honi Honi bar at Deep Creek Lake, MD. Medium gold color with a small white head and good lacing. Somewhat generic lager flavor. Not a big fan of agave in beer but nothing to dislike. Decent.

Pours very clear, light yellow. medium-small white head, little stability. Not much lacing. Smell is crisp, mild earthy aromatic aspects of the Agave. Taste is full, sharp malty, citrussy ( almost like a radler ) very mild earthy-like aspects (truly hidden ) i suspect to be from the Agave. very crisp. Ends a tad sweet, sugary almost. OK at best.
