Úlfrún is a tip o’ the hat to the American new-wave IPA.

Over a multi-grain fermentation of barley, wheat, rye and oats, the Mosaic, Citra and Centennial hops deliver the distinct fruitiness and trigger the tropical delight of pineapple and mango.

Ingredients: Pure Icelandic water, malted barley, malted rye, malted wheat, hops, oats and yeast.

Can. A dense, white head forms over a clear, golden body. Grassy, citrusy aroma with some pale malts in the back. Orange hints. It’s medium bodied, smooth and dry, with a pleasant carbonation. A bit malty flavor, with a pleasant hoppyness. Citrus zest, oranges and a touch of grass. Nice bitterness. Lasting hop dominated finish. Sure not bad this one, but I find it a bit too much on the malty side in the mouth. 160213

On tap at Skuli Craft, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Nose brings out dry toasted malt with a metallic tinge, crackery malt and dry hops. Flavour reveals notes of bitter floral hops, a little detergent, and dry toasted crackery malt. Pretty good for a session IPA, but this just isn't my style most of the time. Very solid execution.
