Úlfrún is a tip o’ the hat to the American new-wave IPA.

Over a multi-grain fermentation of barley, wheat, rye and oats, the Mosaic, Citra and Centennial hops deliver the distinct fruitiness and trigger the tropical delight of pineapple and mango.

Ingredients: Pure Icelandic water, malted barley, malted rye, malted wheat, hops, oats and yeast.

A lightly hazed golden ipa with a thick frothy lacing off white head. In aroma, nice biscuit malt with grassy floral hops, light resinous notes, light grapefruit notes, pleasant. In mouth, a pleasant ipa with light grassy citrusy resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, light mineral notes, nice and refreshing. Can from the duty free at Keflavik Airport.

Boks 330ml fra Eurospar Matservice. Drukket på Lillehøgda 14 Mai 16. Gylden. Middels høyt tett kritthvitt skum som daler sakte. Spotlacing. God grapefruktaroma. Smaken også grapefrukt. Syrlig. Lettere tørr etter hvert. Avslutter ekstra tørt. Mye innhold for styrken.

Can 330ml (K-Kamppi)
Clear golden color, small white head. Harsh aroma has some Sorachi Ace (dill), rubber, wheat and grass. Light-bodied. Flavor is pale malty, a bit harsh (from rye?), dill, hints of citrus. Sorachi Ace dominates and overrides Centennial and Simcoe. A bit messy session IPA.

A golden beer, a head is quite small and white. Aroma has lemon, some other fruitness and malts, not totally fresh. Taste has strong lemon, some malts and bitterness. Almost medium bodied, harsh carbonation. Lemony and slight maltyness.

(Can, 0.33 l - PD 29.02.16 - BF 29.11.16, from Prisma, 20160331) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness and citricness. Palate was light bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, grapefruit, white bread and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A too one dimensional brew but still rather good drinkability. The horrid features of Sorachi Ace were missing which was good.
