Aestatis is a Season type beer brewed in Belgium by De Struise. The beer takes its name from the Latin Aestas, meaning summer, and it couldn’t be a better fit.

The beer pours a rich, cloudy gold, crowned by a light white head.

The nose is a pleasant mix of sweet honey and caramel notes with fruity hops, and apricot, date and grassy scents.

On the tongue there are agreeable malt, caramel, grass and yeast notes with a light, floral side. The finish is crisp and bitter.

2015 bottle. Dark amber color. Soft peacharoma with a hint of salt. Malty fruity yet fairly dry flavor. Peach, passion fruit. Partly hidden alcohol. Salty notes. Almost vinous sweetish finish. Good beer!

330ml bottle. Cloudy, brown colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Floral yeasty and fruity aroma, mellow malty background, hints of dried fruit, yellow stone fruit, floral honey, petals, pollen, a nutty malty touch as well, minimally waxy, hoppy overtones. Taste is dry, nutty and dark malty, minimally chocolately, slightly floral and spicy yeasty, hints of petals, a floral touch of honey (without sweet aspects), cocoa, some hop bitterness; late some vinous aspects with hints of blue grapes, very well hidden alcohol. Very interesting and quite unusual composition, seemingly dangerously light, but is worth to be slowly sipped due to the manifold flavours nevertheless.

25 March 2019. At In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst. Shared with the lovely Anke! Vintage 2015. Pours hazy dark golden with a lasting, frothy, off-white head; lots of lacing. Aroma of overripe plum, orange, honey, caramel, breadcrust, white pepper, yeast, faint mouldy lemon, grass. Taste is medium fruity sweet, overripe plum, orange & red apple on a honeyish & brioche-like malty base, a bit yeasty; light spicy bitter then with pepper, herbs & grass. Dryish, peppery hoppy finish, lingering overripe fruit & honey, some grass & yeast, spiciness ends in a dash of warming gin-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation. Imperial Saison or something like that; this was a nice bottle.

2015 vintage. Bärnstensfärgad kladdig vätska med högt skum. Snygg sheeryliknande doft och smak, värmande alkohol, söta äpplen, torkad frukt och lite kryddiga alkoholtoner. Gott

Bottle. Vintage 2015 according to the label, although I doubt whether there are more vintages or not. Color: Ruby, off-white head. Aroma: Sweetish, yeast, caramel, booze, herbal hints. Taste: Fruity, notes of dried yellow fruit (apricots, apple) and dates. Caramel notes, hints of herbs, bit boozy. Medium sweet, lightly bitter. Bit more boozy at finish. Herbal and grassy bitterness, combined with caramel notes and dry mouthfeel at finish. Over medium body, average carbonation. A Saison like I have never tasted a Saison before and boozier than any Saison that I have tasted before. Pretty complex, well balanced. Nice one.

A lightly hazed golden ale with a thick frothy lacing off white head. In aroma, nice sweet caramel malt with candy sugar, light curacao, light licorice, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet caramel malt with loads of candy sugar, light curacao, licorice, alcohol warmth, light perfumy notes, very nice and smooth. Bottle about two years old.
