Pronck Hortus is a spicy, copper-colored ale with cinnamon leaf, Djeroek Poeroet and Bergamot. We have developed this beer in collaboration with Leiden University, Department of Biology. Each batch is dry-hopped with fresh flowers from the Hortus. This ensures that no batch is the same!

Bought at the Hortus Botanicus in Leiden. Great idea to add local flowers and herbs, but tastes like nothing special. Still: every batch is different. This one's best before 10.12.2026.

Tap at Bierbeurs, Delft: Hazy amber colored brew with an sweet bitter taste and aroma of an Middle-eastern herb-shop, hints of cinnamon, bergamot and some lemon.

Bottle bought at the Hortus, slight murky orange beer, small head. Aroma is malt, yeast, cinnamon, floral, wheat, citrus. Taste is the same, yeast, sweet, honey. meh ok

ABV: 6.0%. Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, wheat, moderate yeasty, fruity yeast, flowers, lime, floral, light cinnamon. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, lime - flowers, honey - cinnamon, flowers, pale malt, floral. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20190809]
