Schramm’s Raspberry is a mead made from whole Michigan raspberries. The flavor is unmistakably fruity raspberry, reminiscent of Michigan summers, and is balanced by honey sweetness. Due to the high level of acidity from the berries, it can age gracefully for many years. A tribute to our home state’s strong fruit growing tradition, this was the first mead made by head meadmaker Ken Schramm. It holds a special place in our history as well as our cellar. This melomel pairs well with grilled Great Lakes salmon, salads, cheesecake, and summer evening bonfires by the lake.

Bottle thanks to Stuu666. Appearance - deep red to black with red chinks. Nose - rich raspberry and going into blackberry. Taste - deep raspberry going into blackberry. Palate - medium bodied, sweetness then tart with a great linger. Overall - seriously good stuff.

750ml thanks to Kenny. It pours darkest red - purple with a minimal head. The aroma is sweet, juicy, tangy, bright, raspberry jam, jam rolly polly, honeyed fruits, blackcurrant coridal, cherry and juiiiice. The taste is slick, juicy, tangy, honeyed berries, rapsberry, fruit coridal, boozy warmth, thick and slick, rapsberry pip, kick of acidity, granny smith apple, vinous, victoria sponge cake, bramble gummy candy and some dryness with slick, sweet - sour finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and slick mouth feel. Balanced, juicy and straight jam.

Pours a very dark and deep purplish red, nicely viscous. Smell is typical Schramms pure jammyness, tons of raspberry. Definitely some alcohol in there, but the raspberry quickly overwhelms it. Lots of tannins, bit of a dry aftertaste. Remarkebly complex, but a bit low on the intensity compared to others of theirs.

Bottle shared at home, happy birthday Irma 🎂!! Purple pour with no head. Dense smell of cooked raspberries. Sweet and dense taste of raspberries, honey, cooked raspberries, notes of black currant and blackberries. Massive sweet, strong tannins, deep earthy cooked cherry notes. Sweet and bitter. Full body and no carbonation.

Bottle sampled thanks to sjogro. Almost totally clear deep ruby, no head. Sweet flowery honey, raspberries, light cooked berries, bitter berry pits, cherry. Quite sweet, and light tart. Full bodied. Very tasty, the honey is great, the fruits is good but like so many raspberry stuff tastes a little syrupy and cooked.
