A top fermented ale but with lagering that gives a smooth crisp finish. This beer was origionally popular around the Cologne region and has seen its popularity soar as its crisp refreshing character is recognised as the perfect thirst quencher.

Bottle from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn. Pours pale yellow/gold with a small white head. Aroma of fruit, sweet malt, hop, yeast and straw. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Light body, very slight oily texture, average to above average carbonation. A fair example of the style.

Bottle from Centra, Collooney [050317]
Light blonde, clear, frothy white head
Aroma of grassy lager hops, soft spicy hops
Taste of spicy grassy hops, light sweet pale malts, getting a plastic hint in the malt, light flavour
Palate - Medium carb, light body, soft bitter. Finish is slightly dry, light bitter grassy hops, light bitter tail.
Overall - Find this style too plain. TBH least favourite of the White Hag beers I’ve had

330ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, yellow-ish golden colour with small to average, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Malty aroma has a touch of wet hay and mild sauerkraut. Taste is bitter, fruity, grainy, minimally strawy, hints of yellow apple, mild sauerkraut, a touch of sorrel.

bottle leggero dorato limpida schiuma media non molto persistente leggero cereale un filo citrico una nota leggermente fruttata secca poco amara

Draught Very good, fine white head over clear metallic pale golden beer. Pale malts, just a hint of good hops, but also CO² penetrating in the nose. Pale malts once more, but a tad mineral. Some DMS? Light body, refreshing but nowhere empty. Definitely not far from the originals.

Bottle from Redmonds. Pale gold with a thin head. Aroma of grainy malt. Flavour is heavy malt, solvent grain, a light sweet finish. Not a great kolsch.
