Poured from a Dec. 2015 bottle. Aroma is nice and rather fruity with nice cherry, raisin, plum and prune notes. Only light acidity with hints of citrus. Light toffee and caramel with some toasted bread. Pours brown with a medium large, thick, tan head that exceeds steadily to a thin film that lingers for quite some time. High amounts of lacing and faint legs. Flavor is moderately acidic with some citrus and tart cherry notes. Some medium light toasted bread, caramel and toffee notes. Quite a bit of dark fruit with plums, cherries, raisin and prune. Light mineral note to the water. Low bitterness. Mouthfeel i s medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice dark farmhouse ale. This beer does a good job of allowing the malt profile to shine through the acidity and dark fruit notes. It also avoids becoming too acidic and astringent. This may be my favorite dark farmhouse beer. I’m pretty impressed as I don’t usually like the style, but this beer is good.
