Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a beige head. A big malty chocolate nose. The flavor is sour, chocolate, ash, grainy sourness. The roast mixes well with the sourness.

Bouteille 750ml, 2014. Carbonatation moyenne, corps moyen, texture propre à Hill Farmstead. Bien intéressant!

Bottle thanks to Greg. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is an earthy pine, roast, and some brett. Medium mouthfeel with nice funk, mineral, roast, bready malt. Very good.

Bottle @ "Er Klopt Iemand Op De Deur" Samson & Gert Bierproeving I. Thanks Chris! Dark brown colour, light brown foam. Medium carbonation. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee with sour vinegar notes. Not very well balanced. Strange mix of flavours.

Huge dark beige-brown head, stable, with lace over jet-black beer. Aromatic nose with tantalizing hints at USA hops, roast, and dried herbs as laurel. Sourishness as from stoutroast, but the roastiness itself is very subdued in the mouth; hints at other grains. Finish has some fruity sourness. Light body, lively carbonation, quite slick. Not very outspoken - which is probably its strength. Farmhouse? amen - Saison? please!!

750 ml. bottle sampled @ "Er Klopt Iemand Op De Deur" Samson & Gert Bierproeving I. Thanks to Chris! Large dark head, fair lacing, hazy body, black / very dark brown. Average malt, nutty, cereal, dark fruits, brett, port, plum, bitter roast, liquorish, roasted coffee, leather, barnyard, light vinegar, sour berries. Medium, grainy, fizzy carbonation, heavy roast, moderate acidity. Somewhat baffling beer, it is almost like they intentionally try to mimic a spoiled Belgian beer. Not bad but a very strange mix of flavours, I am starting to question Hill Farmstead’s divinity.

Taste: bit sour, fruity, floral touch, more sourish, tannins, bit weird. Aftertaste: weird, soapy, unpleasant bitterness, grape peel, tannins.

Bottle, picked up at HF a year ago and carefully stored since. Pours deep murky chestnut with a medium tan head and nice lacing. Aroma is funky and not much else, Flavor is funky, fruity, a bit of lemon zest. Not much sweetness or bitterness, a bit of acidity. Does not drink like a dark saison for sure. Medium body, spritzy carbonation. Lovely as hell and highly drinkable. Pulls things back to their core and displays only what is necessary. Not complex by any means, but the notes it hits are all pitch perfect.
