Pours a clear dark brown body with a tall, long lasting, frothy off-white head. Nutty aroma with caramel and a hint of smoke. The flavor is nutty and sweet on the front with a nice hop bitterness on the backside. Nice medium palate.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating but should be fairly fresh. Pours crystal clear reddish copper color with a nice 2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Good foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, chocolate, toffee, nuttiness, herbal, grass, light earth, and light citrus. Nice aromas with good balance and decent strength. Taste of caramel, roasted grain, biscuit, nuttiness, chocolate, toffee, herbal, grass, earth, and light citrus. Light bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, caramel, toffee, biscuit, nuttiness, and herbal on the finish for a bit. Awesome flavor robustness with great balance and complexity; no cloying flavors at all on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a nice creamy and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent brown ale! Nicely robust and balanced with nice complexity; very smooth to drink. Really enjoyed this.

Bottle, purs a clear brown with a ice fluffy light tan head. Tanic aroma of some woody hops and light toasted malt. flavor is like a bitter brown ale. A bit sharp and biting and a light fairly dry feel. Clean and crisp, just a flavor profile I couldn’t get used to.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours with a clear copper to brown hued body with a small, off-white head. Aromas are nutty, chocolate, brown sugar, and a light spiciness. Flavors are pretty hop forward, spicy, American hops, pine, chocolate forward over dark roast characters. Nutty. Takeaway: nuts and pine. Medium to lively bubbles, medium bodied. Good.

Chestnut-brown, but clear ale; tan head. Bit soapy nose, lots of melanoidins suggested. Smells malty, if thinnish, but some C-hops in evidence. Bit dullish chocolatey flavour; (autumn) leaves too, but soon gone; straw. Very sticky, gristslick. If a bit dullish at first, it might well grow on you.

Bottle. Poured dark brown with medium beige head. Aroma is rather lile, hoppy on a malt base. Medium body, caramel and rye bread notes. Malty finish.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 9 Oct 2010) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, slightly roasted taste with notes of dark rye bread, coffee and hints of ashes. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, dark bread, dried fruit and a generous spicy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel. Some malt sweetness. Well balanced and very tasty beer. Nice one.
