Appearance: Very dark brown, clear. Some tan head. Aroma: Nice dark malts, coffee, roasted, maybe some chocolate. Leather? Taste: More nice malts, roasted, coffee. Bacon. Wouldn’t mind living in 1750, I guess. Info: 500ml bottle, 22/5-2011

500ml bottle. Pours near black with a tiny head. Aroma is of dark malts with some coffee as well. Coffee and malt on the tongue as well, with a moderate bitter finish. Pretty gassy as well, which I’m not of a fan of in porters. Overall, not bad, but could be a lot better.

Deep copper in colour with no head and slight carbonation. Somewhat smokey malt aroma with chocolate and coffee. Roasty, milky coffee flavour, with dark fruits and the merest hint of sourness in the dry finish. Very good.

Bottle at Pre ZBF 2010. OK so I didn’t bring anything too exciting to the tasting, but it was on the floor whilst I was packing so it got into the bag. Chestnut colour, thin beige head. Dry porter aroma. Pretty decent dryness. Nice enough malts.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is dry roasted and caramelish, slight breadish. Sweet, raosted and caramelish flavoured. Followed by a bitter and lingering malty flavour. Smooth malty finish.

Clear amber with a tiny beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel and hints of sweet liquerice. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, caramel and coffee. Finished sweet.

Bottle.Pours dark brown with a reddish tint. Head didn’t stick around long enough to discern what colour it was! Nice aromas of coffee, smoke, roasted malts, caramel. Flavours of bitter chocolate, coffee (dominates), caramel, burnt malts. Smoky, dry finish with a dab of hops.

50cl bottle from M&S. Deep copper brown with a rapidly dissipating beige head; rich coffee aroma; dry in the mouth with richly roasted malts with some sweet milk chocolate flavours; satisfyingly warming smoky and nutty finish, despite the relatively low ABV. Excellent.
